FreeTheMusic_cover.jpgINTRODUCTION:

Hello! Welcome to Francesca’s music world. Here you will encounter a few varieties of music that were evidently influenced by ancient African cultures. Below are music types from anytime anywhere, before 1974, and a song in a language other than English. Along with the following songs, you will find a brief summary and description of the specific subject being observed. I truly hope you enjoy my page! "BEFORE 1973" JAMES_BROWN.jpg
Song: I Feel Good (I Got You)

Artist: James Brown
Genre: Soul/ or Funk
Year Released: 1965
Synopsis:
This great song is full of soul and happiness. I Feel Good, also known as I Got You, was written at a happy time in James Brown's life. Like most soul songs, this great piece of work has a story line. He is proclaiming to his listeners how happy he is now that he is with the one that he loves. I hope that you have enjoyed my song of choice. Most of James Brown's songs are influenced by not only soul, but also jazz and blues which can be related back to African American types of music.

Song: Whine Up

Artist: Kat DeLuna Featuring Elephant Man
Genre: Dance, Pop, Hip-Hop
Year Released: 2007
Synopsis:
Whine up was released in May, which gave it the opportunity to be a hot hit of summer 2007. It is generally about a girl just wanting to dance. This particular song can most certainly have a correlation back to African American cultures, because of the constant repetition and the fast moving temp and beat.

Song: Livin' la Vida Loca

Artist: Ricky Martin
Genre: Latin Pop
Year Released: 1999
Synopsis:
Ricky Martin released his most popular single in both the Latino World and the United States. In my opinion, this song means to have no regrets and do whatever you can to live your life to the fullest. Like many other Latino songs, it has a fast moving pace which makes it easier to dance to. Also, its constant moving place is a factor when comparing this song to African American songs. Ricky Martin was nominated for many awards for this fantastic hit.
